I grew up in the Australian outback, where the nearest town was an hour’s drive away, and bright, endless skies stretched as far as the eye could see. Moving across such vast landscapes required a keen eye for details—whether it was a dead tree or a rusty gate—often from a great distance. These experiences shaped not only my ability to see the bigger picture but also to notice the finer details that guide the way forward. Today, I find myself most at home in similarly expansive environments. I’ve traded the desert for the coast, where I live with my wife and our two dogs, surrounded by stormy seas and brilliant sunsets. I started Outskirts Research because I believe that seeing things from the edges—from the outskirts—helps us uncover overlooked details, make sense of complexity, and find clarity for the next steps.

With degrees in Media and Communications and Psychology, along with senior management experience in operational roles, I bring a unique blend of expertise to social research. Over the years, I’ve led complex programme evaluations for charities, community organisations, and national bodies, focusing on the diverse strengths and vibrant contributions of communities often overlooked or underserved. I’m a systems thinker who weaves data and lived experiences into meaningful stories that demonstrate impact. I facilitate strategy sessions that help organisations develop actionable, long-term plans aligned with their goals and mission. My approach is rooted in process management, research, strategy, communications, and facilitation, bringing warmth, clarity, and calmness to every partnership.
